METABUILDING: innovation ecosystem of the European built environment sector
Objective
The Metabuilding project aims to enhance innovation and collaboration among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from various sectors across Europe. Its goal is to support the development of innovative products and solutions for the sustainable construction industry.
To achieve this, the project is establishing an open innovation platform that will connect SMEs with testing services.
As part of this initiative, the project has awarded 40 grants of up to €55,000, focusing on a range of themes, including nature-based solutions (NBS), 3D printing, recycling, and digital building. This call for projects attracted 397 ideas and innovation proposals from 16 different European countries.
Results
The METABUILDING project has achieved two main outcomes:
- Innovations have been created through 40 funded projects, with a total funding of €2.6 million provided to companies.
